blog Back to Brid!

Winter Wonderland

Our second Christmas has been and gone and it was so lovely. Here on the coast the frosts on the fields are stunning and the sunsets and moonrises (you can watch the moon rise at Flamborough Lighthouse) make for extra special memories. Not much better than a winter stroll on the beach with friends and a cuppa afterwards. Happy Winter Everyone!

Welsummer Love!

At last we are really getting started with our 'good life' dream. This week 5 lovely ladies joined us on the farm. Gorgeous Welsummer hens. We are a little bit in love already although it wont be till spring that we can enjoy their eggs. Hopefully enough to share with our visitors.

At the end of the winter we planted 250 trees on our site! A lovely mix of native trees with the aim of creating new wildlife habitats and corridors and to provide some wind breaks. Come see them! They are getting on wonderfully!

Birding Back on the Books!

Its wonderful that as our first year here has rolled in we feel we have achieved so much and are really making our home here. Kerry is now working with school groups at RSPB Bempton Cliffs - the first school group arrived this week on the same day that the first Puffin was spotted on the sea! Guillemots, Gannets, Razorbills & Fulmars are all back!

Why, 'Back to Brid'?

'Back to Brid' is in recognition that, as with so many other families, ours, for generations have loved holidaying on the Yorkshire Coast. We are so happy to bring our family back to explore Brid' and hope many others will rediscover it too. In the photo you can see Paul's Great Great Grandma and Grandfather Taylor walking on Bridlington Promenade!

Tour de Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire was fabulous in all its yellow and blue glory! We were really proud of Bridlington and the villages for the send off to the first stage and so excited to be a part of it all ourselves. Here's to the next one (!) and if you fancy giving the first stage a go remember we have good secure bike storage!

Welcome to our new Blog site! We hope over the coming weeks to keep you abreast of the business, our new lives here and what's happening in the area. Having just moved from Leeds we are getting the hang of the new place and exploring the coast with our two boys. Please check in again next week for our first proper blog. Thanks! Kerry & Paul.
